Conference Challenges of Codification in 100th anniversary of erection of Codification Committee of Republic of Poland hosted by Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration, Jagiellonian University, in collaboration with the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (Pol. Polska Akademia Umiejętności), under the patronage of the First President of Supreme Court of Poland (prof. dr habil. Małgorzata Gersdorf) will be divided into two parts including:
Challenges of Codification – historical and contemporary perspective under Polish legal system. On first day Polish scholars (many of whom were engaged in legislature processes including re-codification of civil law, criminal law and administrative law both on procedural and substantial plates) will be discussing to what extend Polish Codification Committee (which formally seize to perform its task in 1939) influenced shape of Polish legal system.
Challenges of Codification in comparative perspective. Second day of Conference will be contributed to codification movement in comparative perspective blending both elements of public and private law as well as Western and Eastern legal culture. The very idea is to discuss such processes as: codification, re-codification, de-codification from theoretical (including “theory” of codification), national, European (esp. EU) and global perspective in advent of new socio-economical phenomena. The scope of discussion will include mostly CEE states (e.g. Czechia, Hungary, Poland) and other neighboring jurisdictions (e.g. Russian Federation or Austria, Ukraine).
As a result of conference there will be published bilingual monograph on codification issues in 21th century Europe.
